Why do we sleep?

Answer:
because our body is like an engine and it uses energy for everything it does and if you do not sleep your mind and body will not operate right
Because if we didn't, we would die.
So our batteries don't run out!
to rest our bodies.
i think to give our brain a rest
To rejuvinate and rest our bodies.
because we are tired..it refreshes our body and mind
To take a break from our ridiculous, busy, overworked, stressful lives! Gosh i need a vacation!!!
well it has so many benefits ..
for example your immunity system refreshes ..
the stress is gone , and you feel better like a whole new body ...
to relax and get peace of mind.
We have to sleep because it is essential to maintaining normal levels of cognitive skills such as speech, memory, innovative and flexible thinking. In other words, sleep plays a significant role in brain development.
think of the brain like a muscle, and as if you were to walk for miles you would need to sit or lay to rest your leg muscles, the same when you've been consciously using your brain for hours you need to rest it, that's what sleep does, although your brain never fully rests because it is always regulating the function of the body(heart, lungs etc, etc)
I guess to rejuvinate ourselves because if we didn't sleep we'd collapse from exhaustion. But sleep is an odd thing.
Sleeping allows your body to rest, remove toxins from the day's living, and repair damaged tissues. One reason you feel nicely sleepy after exercise is that your muscle tissues are torn by the excersion, and your body needs to sleep to repair the damage.
There was program on maybe it was bbc I can't think but apparently the body only needs rest not sleep. The brain however is more active during dream sleep than it is when we are awake. Check this out because this is what the program said. I thought about it and I came up the conclusion that it was the brain defragging.
So are body can heal musles cuts and sort what happend through the day!! (dreams)
