Why does people?

Want me to go on anti-depressants?

I don't understand this everyone tells me I need to go on them but I don't know if I should.

Should I go on them if everyone wants me to be on them?
Answer:
It is your choice.
One form of depression, usually called major depressive disorder, is a disease cause by an imbalance of chemicals called neurotransmitters -- serotonin, norephinephrine, and dopamine. Antidepressants treat this disease by regulating the levels of those chemicals.

What has your doctor said? He or she is the one who can really tell you if antidepressants would be helpful for you.

Good luck.
You should atleast try them. My friend was the same way, she didn't think Zoloft would work and I talked her into just trying it for a month, if it didn't work then stop using them. She took my advice and she's happier than ever. She's a totally different person. She looks forward to getting up each day. It's your life and you should be happy, your worth it.
No, you should not go on anti-depressants because "everyone wants [you] to be on them". Anti-depressants cannot cure depression, but they can make it easier to deal with.

I highly recommend that you try cognitive therapy first, particularly if this is not a new thing for you. You *and* your therapist may decide that taking anti-depressants could help you stabilize emotionally enough to deal with the underlying issues. However, that is an issue that should be decided between you and a mental health professional, not a friend of a friend or well-intentioned folks on the internet.
Not unless you are under Doctor's care because medical like this need to be watched for reaction and other stuff. If they see you are not doing right by one pills they migth change them. So do not do what people want you to do unless he has authority on the issues.
Treament for depression is usually an 'and and' thing rather than 'or or'. Try the meds if your doctor advises it but not only the meds. This is not the only treatment. Find a pychologist to give you other therapies like CBT:
